Pipeline Operations Team HUD (Heads Up Display) Information Guide V1.02

Below you will find a detailed picture along with an explanation of the basic HUD displayed in America's Army. These are some basic things displayed within the HUD (Heads Up Display) these items should be learned and mastered as soon as possible as it will make gameplay much smoother if you have an idea of what is going on around you.

Current Talk Mode
Communication is very important in AA. By pressing the com chat (default is G), you can scroll through different com modes. You will notice com modes such as Radio Message, Global Message, Voice Chat, Squad Command and Hand Signal (for Team Leaders), and Whispered Message. This picture in the upper left of your screen will show which com mode you are currently in.

Compass
This compass is used just as in real life. It shows the direction you are facing (your current heading)(in the above picture the soldier is facing west). But it does more than just show the direction. It will also show the direction of you objectives, represented by a number. Look at your Objectives to see the number. In this picture, I have only one objective, objective A. You can use your compass to get to this objective, which will show as an A on the compass. The compass also displays your teammates (depending on which class you are), and your Team Leaders.

Team Leader
The insignia patch will show whether you are a Team or Squad Leader. Being a leader has it's privileges. Being either leader, you can use hand signals and squad commands. The Team Leader can see the Squad Leader and every member of their team on the compass. The Squad Leader is able to see all of the Team Leaders on the the compass. In addition to this, all members of your team are able to see the Team Leaders and Squad Leaders on the compass.

Objectives
This shows what mission orders need to be completed in order to win the round.

Night Vision
Some maps will allow you to use Night Vision Goggles. The default key for putting on your Night Vision Goggles is V. The NVG allow you to see alot better in the dark, but they lower your peripheral vision. If the map you are playing does not have Night Vision Goggles, the NVG symbol will not appear.

Health
This indicator displays your health in terms of three colors. Green indicates that you are in great health. Yellow shows that you are somewhat damaged. Red indicates that you are in very bad condition, and near death. Also note if you are wounded and bleeding there will be a bleeding indicator shown as a drop of blood that will flash faster as you bleed more. Not only does this indicator show your health, but it also shows what position you are in. If you are standing, the figure will show you standing. If you are crouched, the figure will be crouched. The same holds true for the prone position.

Grenades
These show which grenades you have available to you in your inventory. The number of grenades in your inventory will depend on your current class and the map you are playing on.

Clips In Reserve
This number displays how many clips of ammunition you have left in reserve.

Ammo In Clip
This shows how many rounds of ammunition you have left in the clip currently inside the gun. When this count reaches 0, your gun is out of ammunition and you will be forced to reload BEFORE firing again.

Weapon And Firing Mode
The weapon figure will show which weapon you currently have equipped. Above that, the firing mode that weapon is currently using is displayed. The possible firing modes are, Single, Burst, Automatic, and Supported.

Learn to use your HUD effectively and all the information displayed in your HUD will help you complete you objectives quickly and efficiently. There several aspects to the HUD that may be customized including, color, weapon crosshair and transparency. You will need to experiment around a bit to find the best possible combination.
